Storm Peaks – Worgs for Skinning and Meat

I hear there is a cave in Storm Peaks where there are plentiful Worgs with an insane respawn rate.

Can someone confirm?

I’m thinking that for a Skinner this might be a decent place…doubly so for Skinner/Miners if the cave has ore.

Farming Eternal Fire (Crystallized Fire) in Wintergrasp

I learned about this spot in Wintergrasp from the comments on Wowhead. I have done very limited testing personally. I have yet to get a good solid hour of testing in, which would be what I’d need before giving it a final thumbs-up. I’m hoping that someone here might chime in with their test results.

I’ve been looking around for the best place to farm those, and I’ve found it. You will find “Flame Revenant” and “Raging Flame” at 83.71 in Wintergrasp.

To the bad part, you will only be able to farm this when your faction controls Wintergrasp. I’m not really sure if it’s a bad part though. When you farm there, you are sure that noone from the opposite faction are going to interrupt your farming by killing your mobs. Because the Flame Revenants, which has 100% chance to drop 1-3 crystallized fires (motes), can only be seen by the faction who controls Wintergrasp.

Okay, to some quick facts about this place :

Raging flame
*Has an approx. droprate of 25% on the crystallizers, 1-2 each drop.
*No special abilities
*Hits me as a cloth mage for 550~ firedamage per hit.
*Immune to fire spell damage, extra vulnerable to frost damage.
*12600 health, easy kills. Alot of them around the area.

Flame Revenant
*100% droprate on the crystallizers, 1-3 each drop
*4 spawns, 5 minute timer on the spawns. Giving around half an eternal each 5 minutes.
*Same as for Raging Flame, no special abilities.
*Actually not immune to fire spell damage.
*25200 health, average in difficulty. Melees could use bandages while farming these, since they hit fairly hard, dealing 1200 critical hits on me as cloth.

I farmed for one hour, while beeing alone there, to test how many eternals per hour you can get.

The result :

First 15 minutes – 2.1 Eternals
The next 15 minutes – 2.3 Eternals
~~ – 2.8 Eternals
~~ – 2.1 Eternals

With this said, I had 9.3 eternals within one hour as a Frost mage with green/blue level 80 gear.

A couple of observations from the short time I have been able to test:

1. It’s definitely true that you cannot see the Revenants if your faction doesn’t control Wintergrasp. You can still farm the other little guys, though.

2. They drop some pretty nice gray items: 3g for gray weapons, and they all drop gray crystals that stack to over 3g very quickly.

3. Remember: it is a PVP zone. You’re flagged while you’re there. If you’re not used to pee vee pee, be alert to opposing faction members coming to bother you, which could ruin your farming there.

UPDATE: After some brief tests, I can definitely conclude that it is NOT worth farming if your faction doesn’t control the zone. The little elementals don’t drop enough to make it worth it. I’m still testing whether or not farming there will be worthwhile once we control it.

A couple of points: I made about 2-300g per hour farming just the small elementals, between Crystallized and Eternal Fire, and the grays they drop. So, if you can’t find a way to farm gold faster than that (like you have terrible crafting professions and don’t ‘play’ the Auction House), you can try it. It seems kinda ‘meh’ to me. The other problem is that: 1) you have to have the place to yourself…it’s a very small area, and hard to get alone there, and 2) if you ARE alone and a member of another faction comes, it interrupts your farming and makes your gold per hour rate go way down.

UPDATE #2: With my faction in control of Wintergrasp, I decided to farm some Crystallized Fire. After about 30 minutes of uninterrupted farming, I had about 200g worth of stuff (between grays and Crystallized Fire). Sadly, though, about 50g of that was from mining the nodes that were right there. So if you don’t have mining, it would be a little less. My conclusion is that this is NOT a good spot for farming gold. Especially with the chance of being interrupted to do a little PVP while trying to farm. (The spot is so small, it is really rare to have it yourself.)

Some people might say, “well, at least I can farm the Eternal Fires I need and save me some gold!” They should read the ‘Myths’ section on this site. If you can find a faster way to make gold than 400g per hour, do that, and BUY the Eternal Fires you need.

Lowbies – Low mobs with superfast respawn

In Westfall, along the coast, there is a group of Defias that have an insane respawn rate. Use the command ‘/tloc 32,33′ (without the quotes), when you are in Westfall, and it will put a dot on your map showing you the spot. It is atop the cliffs along the coast, and there’s a lone windmill and a small building. The mobs are somewhat close together, so depending on your aggro radius, you might pull more than one. As a mage, I pulled together as many as I could and used Arc Explosion to instantly kill them. (They have about 200-250 hp each). They drop a tiny bit of copper, but they drop linen 2-3 at a time. In 25 minutes there, I had over 5 stacks of 20 linen (about 80s to 1g each). I also had about 3 or 4 low-level greens drop in that time period…I’m hoping that some low-level players will acquire these at the AH. So if you can handle Level 12-13 mobs quickly, but aren’t up for some of the tougher, better-loot-dropping mobs, this might be a good place to just grind. By the way…3 times in a row, I killed a group of 3 mobs instantly (the group by the building), and they respawned BEFORE I COULD LOOT ANYTHING! When I was done, I had a pile of 9 bodies in like 3 seconds. Note: some of the bodies would lock up if I tried to loot them…they were buggy. Just walk away from them until you stand up if that happens.

Giant Eggs – Deadwind Pass (level 55-56)

Used for the Artisan Cooking quest, and for Monster Omelets, these eggs always seem to go for good gold on the AH. You can get them all over the place, but I found Deadwind Pass to be the easiest. The birds there drop them at a very high rate, and drop some other nice gray items, too (including Vibrant Plumes used for Darkmoon rep). I mention Winterspring because the Ragged Owlbeasts there have a fabulous drop rate for them…but they’re more spread out and mixed in with other mobs. Deadwind Pass is just a loop where you kill a bird, then another, etc. until you’re back where you started. You can also run loops as a level 70 waiting for you Karazhan group to arrive. I’ve also heard rumors that they drop from the vultures in Westfall, just by the cemetery near Moonbrook, and that the respawn rate there is insane. If that’s true, that would be a farmer’s dream.

Tar Elementals in Un’Goro

Tar elementals are the only mobs in UGC that drops money. The money they drop isn’t stellar…maybe 5s average per mob. Not so great after Burning Crusade for high levels, but they drop so fast it’s hilarious. But they also drop Living Essence, at a rate of about 4-5 an hour for me. AND they drop herbs that sell well, such as Blindweed. So even if you’re not an herbalist you can get in on the herb market. The drop rate for green items is also fairly decent for these, and even the GRAY items here can sell for over 1g to a vendor. I have even gotten a Lei of Lilies (epic – sold for 200g) off of one of them. If you are an herbalist, this area has some high-value herbs which can even respawn while you’re grinding away. Of special note: These things are VERY vulnerable to Fire. While Fire mages generally have a hard time soloing mobs, these things go down QUICKLY to fire! Being a fire mage myself, this is probably one of my favorite spots to grind, because of the herbs collected, herbs dropped, green and gray items, Living Essence and silver. Remember to collect Un’Goro Soil, too…to sell or use with your seed packets.

Browman Mill – Eastern Plaguelands (57-60)

A decent spot to grind when I’m doing nothing else is Browman Mill. It’s that area just north of the flight point in EPL. Single pulls, and they drop tons of Runecloth…like 0-3 pieces each. When something drops 3 Runecloth and 8 silver, that’s pretty decent for one kill. Runecloth is selling well, even after Burning Crusade came out. Between green items (which I just DE), gray items that sell for over 1g each, stacks of runecloth, potions (Major Mana Potions included, which also still sell), etc., this spot will have you happily grind all by yourself. This spot has two spawn points for Black Lotus, which is a great seller. Plus lots of Mt. Silversage, Plaguebloom and some Dreamfoil.

Water Elementals in Terokkar

If the Elemental Plateau is too crowded for you, and you don’t have a problem killing Water Elementals that are Frost Immune, another really good spot to farm them is in Skettis in Terokkar. You need a flying mount, and there is a spot in the southeast corner of the map that is a plateau way up high, with a lake. Personally I find the mobs (birdmen) pretty tough, but the water elementals around the lake…especially near the top of the waterfall…drop motes of water at about the same rate as the ones on the Elem Plateau, and the place is usually much less crowded.

Mana Elementals in Netherstorm

If you travel to southeast Netherstorm, there’s a little (destroyed) town called Wizard’s Row. The two types of mobs there have a high drop rate of motes of mana, which combine to make Primal Mana. It’s boring farming there, but their drop rate is good. As usual, pick the farming spot where you can kill the fastest. If Primal Manas sell for the same as Primal Waters, and you’re collecting Primal Waters for your Frozen Shadowweave set (for example), but you can kill the mana elementals faster than the water elementals…farm the heck out of the mana, and sell them, then use the money to buy the Primal Waters, instead of trying to ‘save’ and just farm the water elems. Note: the respawns are very fast here. In fact, the more people that are farming it, the faster the spawns reappear!!

Elemental Plateau

I hate to give this one away, since this is where I live these days. If you’re on Eonar, then stay away from my spot! The Elemental Plateau is an area that can only be reached via flying mount. It is above (and to the north) of the Throne of Elements in Nagrand. There are Water, Air, Earth and Fire elementals here. They respawn relatively quickly, and have a very high drop rate of motes. It’s pretty heavily farmed. Depending on what time of day you’re there, number of 70s on your server, etc…this place can be crowded. But it’s still one of the fastest places to collect motes, and primals (especially fire and water) are selling like gangbusters. The mobs are close together, but can be singly pulled. It’s a farmer’s paradise. There’s even a graveyard so if you die, you can get back to your corpse quickly. The other special tip about this place is that in the water there are 6 spawn points for Pure Water. If your fishing is high enough (I am at 330 and still use an Aquadynamic Fish Attractor), you can get motes of water very quickly from these pools. So have fun!

Netherstorm “Island” – Socrethar’s Seat (70)

Another spot I like is the “island” to the NW of Stormspire in Netherstorm. It’s only accessible if you have a flying mount. There are level 70 demons there, and a big elite. The elite just stands in the middle…easily avoided. Mana Thistle and Dreaming Glory spawn all over the place there, as does Adamantite and sometimes Khorium. But the significance is the green drops from the mobs. They drop Marks of Sargeras, and occasionally a Fel Armament (not as good as the forgelords), but they drop other random greens at a pretty decent rate (around 10%), and those greens either sell really well, or have a high vendor sale rate, or have a high DE value. If you are an enchanter, I’d recommend checking that spot out. And unlike other sections that can only be reached by flying mount, this one isn’t as dangerous.

Netherstorm demons (68-70)

Directly to the NW of Stormspire, just outside the dome, there are some portals surrounded by demons. Ironspine Forgelords are my favorite, along with the Cyber Forgelords. Beware the ones with the Fel Cannons…those are a pain. Anyway, they have a high drop rate of Marks of Sargeras and Fel Armaments. Currently, on my server, Marks are selling for about 75s each, and FAs are selling for about 14g. I have been getting about 4 FAs per hour, and about 20 MoSs per hour. Not bad when you throw in the occasional green items, Netherweave…oh, and the silver they drop. Oh…and the herbs and ore that spawn there.

Apexis Flayers (72)

In Blade’s Edge Mountains, in the plateau to the north are Apexis Flayers. There are level 71s and 72s. The 72s have one of the highest silver drop rates I’ve found, and they’re easily soloable (you have to be 70 to fly up there anyway). They drop some so-so grays that stack up fast, and Apexis Shards, and they hang out where Apexis Shards spawn on the ground. The reason this is important is that with enough shards collected, it makes it worth it to spend a Flask on these. You can get a flask with 10 shards from the devices up in Ogri’la.
