Gatherer is an addon that very simply logs the location of any herb you pick, ore you mine, treasure you open, etc., and can display that info on your map, your minimap, or both. It has enough options to let you display or hide different things, and search for specific items. It builds up over time. This is great if you want to make an ore or herb run….you can know exactly where the greatest concentration of the good-selling herbs/ore are. By recording specific spawn points for things like Mana Thistle or Khorium you can see at a glance if it’s worth you detouring for 20 seconds off the trail to see if the herb is there. It even tells you how far away something is in seconds based on you rate of travel! It doesn’t increase the radius of what will show up on your minimap, but it puts empty circles on the minimap where spawn points have been recorded…you can move closer to find out if the item is there. Like I said, sometimes taking a few steps off the trail reveals the presence of a respawned item that is money in your pocket!

Gatherer can be found at http://www.gathereraddon.com. It also records things like chests that you find, so, again, you can know where to take a detour off the main trail to see if free money or loot is sitting there waiting for you. It can plot the items on your main map as well as your minimap. And, by default it shares the data from other Gatherer users in your guild! That means you can add spawnpoints to your map without even having to harvest the herb/ore there. You can even do a data dump from one user to the rest of the guild to share all your spawnpoints at once.
