If you’re a Jewelcrafter, check the average price (using Auctioneer or WoWEcon) of a stack of 20 Adamantite Ore.

Compare that price to what the average price of rare gems are selling for…either cut or uncut.

Right now on my server, a stack of Adamantite is regularly going for 22g.  Rare gems (uncut) are selling for around 30g or more, and cut rares are between 30-60g.

If that’s true on your server, buy a stack, prospect the whole thing, and turn around selling the rare gems.  You should average about 1 rare gem per 20 stack of Adamantite.  It’s not 100% accurate, but it’s close enough to let you do the comparison between the price of the ore and the profit you’ll make selling the gems.

You might also consider establishing a steady supply of ore.  Pay attention to the folks that you normally buy from.  Offer them a fixed price for a C.O.D. stack of ore.  They’ll know that they won’t have to worry about the price or competition, and won’t lose any AH fees.  And you’ll have a fixed price and won’t have to worry about the daily fluctuation of the market.

But have in mind that if you prospect like 20-30 stacks don’t flood the market with all the gems at the same time, if you do that there is a big risk that all your gems will not be sold before people start undercutting your price.

Made that mistake myself and flooded the market with 12 star of elunes for 55g each and the others went for 58. Now 3 days later i still have some of them left and the star of elunes on AH is going for the ridiculous price of 16g each.

in fact yeah its true u have 3% chance of getting for example a star of elune…. but u have also 3% of getting all the other gems….so u have 6 different gems n it makes 18% of getting any gems… its a lil more than 18% its more like 23% but i think u understand the thing!

About Make WoW Gold

MakeWoWGold.com was created in February, 2006, at the urging of some friends who knew we were good at making gold. It became a game within the game, to see how much gold we could make, and what deals we could find. Once this site was created, other friends started contributing ideas. We finally converted it to a blog in December 2007 to make it easier to update. We would have done it sooner, but we were too busy playing WoW...
