The following steps are the very first things you should do if you haven’t done so already:

Start by reading this entire site. Even if it doesn’t all make sense to you, you’ll pick up on a few things that will click later.

Forget about killing mobs as your primary gold-making strategy. (See the Myths category)

Download and install the Auctioneer addon from www.auctioneeraddon.com.

Download and install the Enchantrix addon from www.auctioneeraddon.com as well.

Find a guild-mate or friend who will disenchant items for you for free. It’s no biggie…most guild-mates should do it for free. (You’ll mail unsellable green or blue items to them for Disenchanting into reagents that DO sell.)

If your crafting professions are at 250 skill level or better, download and install Fizzwidget’s Reagent Cost from curse-gaming.com.

If your crafting professions aren’t at or close to 250, drop them and take up skinning and either mining or herbalism, and download and install Gatherer from gathereraddon.com, or use WoWAce Cartographer addon to capture all of your spawnpoints of herbs or ore.

Start scanning the Auction House (every category) with Auctioneer once in the morning and once in the evening every day for at least a week to build up market price data. Continue to scan it several times a week thereafter.
