Tar elementals are the only mobs in UGC that drops money. The money they drop isn’t stellar…maybe 5s average per mob. Not so great after Burning Crusade for high levels, but they drop so fast it’s hilarious. But they also drop Living Essence, at a rate of about 4-5 an hour for me. AND they drop herbs that sell well, such as Blindweed. So even if you’re not an herbalist you can get in on the herb market. The drop rate for green items is also fairly decent for these, and even the GRAY items here can sell for over 1g to a vendor. I have even gotten a Lei of Lilies (epic – sold for 200g) off of one of them. If you are an herbalist, this area has some high-value herbs which can even respawn while you’re grinding away. Of special note: These things are VERY vulnerable to Fire. While Fire mages generally have a hard time soloing mobs, these things go down QUICKLY to fire! Being a fire mage myself, this is probably one of my favorite spots to grind, because of the herbs collected, herbs dropped, green and gray items, Living Essence and silver. Remember to collect Un’Goro Soil, too…to sell or use with your seed packets.

I had a lot of fun with tar lords while I was leveling my mage from 50-58. As a frost mage they didn’t go down quite so quick, but frost mages have imbafrostbite so it wasn’t an issue to solo grind them.

Un’goro is an amazing place for my character– skinner herbalist. So many apes and dinosaurs, the leather was plentiful.
(rugged leather sells for 6g a stack on my server! thick leather sells for 3g!!)

Dream foil and golden samsan have high spawn rates, and find herbs lets you see bloodpetal sprouts, which can be turned in for packages with venderable goods in it.

I’m not level 70 yet, but I imagine that i’ll be back as soon as I am so farm ungoro muchly.

About Make WoW Gold

MakeWoWGold.com was created in February, 2006, at the urging of some friends who knew we were good at making gold. It became a game within the game, to see how much gold we could make, and what deals we could find. Once this site was created, other friends started contributing ideas. We finally converted it to a blog in December 2007 to make it easier to update. We would have done it sooner, but we were too busy playing WoW...
